Code Geass is my hands-down favorite anime of all time, about an MC who gets a mysterious power and uses it to upend the balance of power in his country of residence, working to make the world a kinder place. Episodes consist of big-brain plays by the MC, great mech fights, and intriguing character development and world-building. Whether it be the amazing and intricately crafted story, stunning art, characters more compelling than most real people you know, or the overall experience this show delivers for every potential audience. The wide variety of characters that all have their own understandable goals allows for a great amountof depth to the show, and there is absolutely no flat recurring characters insofar as being "I'm evil just because" or something like that.
Get ready for some "OMG, WTF JUST HAPPENED" and "OH GOD NO, PLEASE SAY THAT DIDN'T JUST HAPPEN" moments that will leave you reeling and starving for more.

If you like powers, OP MCs, genius MCs, fighting authority, mechs, social commentary, or anime in general you will love this show. However, if you are a bit squeamish when it comes to death, you might want to ready yourself for some fights.

Of note: The second season is even better! (There is also a movie!)
