Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion

Story: Giant monsters are attacking the city one after another. Three kids have to pilot eva's(giant robots) to defeat them. Its a straight forward story that has more going for it then you might think, however.... Art: its from the 90's and the animation style sure does telegraph it. You see lots of old tech like Cassette players and CRT computers. Sound: Sound design is excellent from the roars to the foot sets of the Eva's all sound unique. Characters:All the characters have one trait in common, either mommy or daddy issues.
Shinji - is the focus of this show and from start to finish he is not stop bitching, whining, screaming, and running away. He is a coward to the end. Shinji is by far one of the most annoying anime character ive ever had to the displeasure of listening to, and his VA's voice is also extremely irritating to boot. (His dad is a cold man, he bitches. His friends a pilot and he didnt know about its, he screams. Someone tells him to shut up, he does(when hes not bitching or screaming))

Asuka - an annoying little lady that i usually just mute the sound whenever she starts talking. (I would do the same with Shinji but because he's the MC i am forced to listen to him) Once Asuka starts talking she doesnt shut up and it will make you want to rip your ears off, and the characters know thats shes extremely annoying too.

Enjoyment:
The fights are different some in good ways others bad. If anything the main attraction to this show are the Eva's themselves they look cool and do cool things and are sometimes freaky because of the mystery surrounding them.

Overall:
This anime cant go any higher then a 7 because two of the four main characters are extremely annoying and the last two episodes of the series are a million steps away from the rest of the show answering none of the questions people would ask. (Think going from watching Gundam /Transformers to watching Elmo, but its suppose to be the same show) There are more then one adult female characters that are portrayed as sluts. (Asuka says Wondurbar, a kid drops his pants and underwear on a military aircraft carrier because hes getting back as Asuka.(somehow that doesn't make any sense what so ever)) If the Eva's were not as interesting as they were i would have dropped this anime on episode 4 where Shinji's bitching was getting on my last nerves.
