Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
After watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, I felt the need to write something about the series that I consider really important. But, before I talk about that, I'd like to be really brief when it comes to my thoughts on the series. Story: NGE starts a bit slow and is a somewhat episodic series in the first half, making the viewer feel like they're basically watching the same episode over and over again. However, the second half is way more interesting and allows us to know more about NERV and the Evas in general. Art: The art style from NGE is very characteristic from the 90s. It doesn't bringanything new to the table but it's still great.
Sound:
The music on this one was always on point, nothing to point out here.
Characters:
Most of the characters are interesting and I like the fact that we got to somewhat know their own personal stories better throughout the show, making it easier to know where they're coming from with certain attitudes.
Enjoyment:
This is where the most important part (that I talked about in the beginning) of the review comes to play. I really liked NGE, but if anyone that hasn't watched it yet and is considering doing it while having problems related to anxiety or panic attacks, I must warn you to be careful while watching some episodes starting from the 18th. Without wanting to sound edgy or something like that, I can tell you that while I watched this I felt a lot of anxiety due to some themes that are talked about like loneliness, feeling worthless and especially death so I can speak from experience (since I have panic attacks from time to time) that if you tend to overthink and if you have any anxiety related issue, this show may not be the best for you. However, if you watch it with a light head and keep it calm, it can be watchable (depending on how severe your anxiety is) since it also talks about the importance of self worth and caring about yourself. With that being said, there's nothing else I can really point out about the series that affected my enjoyment.
Overall:
NGE was an interesting series and I wish I saw it earlier. Although it is not my favorite, I can see why it has so many fans that support the series. I recommend anyone to watch it!
P.S.: The review isn't exactly complex because what I really wanted to talk about mainly was the topic that I bring up in the Enjoyment part.
