Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Just felt like summing up this anime after a viewing of it. *might contain minor spoilers (to explain the plot)* -Note I gave this anime a 10 overall, but enjoyment a 9. Some people simply won't take the plot well. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai is not an an anime for everyone. It explores the lives of five individuals a couple years after the death of one of their friends. Mostly this life of our main character-dude who is somehow close to the main-character chick that died. ***Our main character is quite simply seen by all as a loser. And apparently heis also going crazy due to his trauma and stress. Stick with him for a few episodes and he will start to change, but a realistic amount. He doesn't become the coolest kid ever or suddenly get all 100s and get into the best college around. He did enough to make me tip my hat his way, not get worshiped. This anime focuses more on the real.***
So what is this all about?
Not getting to say goodbye to a friend.
The inability to continue forward.
At the start at least.
It turns into overcoming ones past to continue forward, which some people have a hard time doing. Specifically a few of our main characters
Is this anime worth watching?
I thought no for a long time. I read a few of the reviews and didn't really find anything about a group of friends trying to overcome the loss of one of the gang enjoyable.
I'm really glad I read one of the more positive reviews and came back.
Story. Emotion. Thats what this anime is all about. Those that enjoyed anime such as Clannad will know. It will leave some of us in tears.
Art. A lot like Toradora.
Sound. Good music and voices.
Characters. Some you will love, Some you will hate. Not perfect, but pretty darn good.
Enjoyment. As stated above. Not for everyone, but many will give this an anime a high rating, others will do the opposite.
Biggest + for me was the ending which is simply a 10/10, Lactose intolerants beware: It is Cheesy Good.
Overall.
Quite the ride.
If you read the above and find even a remote interest, try it out.
Before you know it you'll be buckling yourself in.
