Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

i hate to leave such a poor review on anohana seeing how much praise it receives. i see where it's coming from, but i honestly couldn't help but be bored almost the entire time while watching this. i took a break from the series for a couple months because it really just didn't peak my interest, but when people kept encouraging for me to finish it i gave in and decided to finish the last 5 episodes i had. i honestly had such high hopes for this series, and i found myself just sitting there watching the anime completely bored wondering when it would getgood. in my opinion, the characters seem very rushed-- even the character development seemed basic. menma just annoyed me, her character felt shallow to me and just came off as a playful mary sue. really the only praise i have for this anime was the art and sound. they were both very lovely, and i felt that the art perfectly captured each setting and summertime. the sound was really nice as well, especially the outro (secret base).
