Review of Katanagatari

As i have not finished the entire series yet. I could be biased on this review on not seeing a bad ending for it yet. And as my profile shows I have never written a review even for anime that I think are potential candidates for 10/10. So bare with me if i must come back to fix this review, but this anime in particular has had plenty of fine points to already discuss. Expecially for a adaptation from around I believe 2009-2010 I could be wrong wiki gurus will chow me to bits for it. I accept. I find this anime tickling a great sinceof what I tend to miss sometimes when enjoying a good anime. I give the story a 9. Its very up front and has had a very nice linear progression so far. Its faster paced. Still shows alot of love for the background. It unfortunately does not get a 10 only because of character which Ill get to in a moment. The story has been fullfilling with some nice twists along the way. Its as much as i can say without ruining something you might be watching.

Art im going to glance over. While I gave this a 8 for art. I will say that it grew on me after watching alot of the "Traditional anime" and I think works for the type of setting and story they were wanting to create. By the end Ill most likely feel like bumping this to a 9.

While there isnt alot of "Music" the distinct sounds for each area they travel to are distinct and make a pleasant sensation of progression through different areas of what is Japan. Along with very good usage of battle sounds. Not overbearing; but to enunciate something critical that the eyes and ears can both enjoy. Sounds stands at a resounding 9.

While some anime tends to fall short on character development. This anime shows promise so far on each of the characters to grow and expand from when we first meet them. I give this a 9 only cause the two main characters so far are so ying and yang that its harder tell. Specifically Tomaga as its harder to tell if she is progressing as a character at all even though she will be. With Shisika he shows both growth in strength and in character as he learns more about the world he has missed out on. Therefore characters is a good 9 for me. On the side note of story. While not every anime can be perfect Tomaga is what keeps the story at 9. As she is only semi known on who she is after the amount of episodes that ive watched.

Between Enjoyment and Overall ill lump into one number even though I have two. 8.75. If you have been burning on anime and want something that is relaxing but still has action. I would watch this anime. Its light. Action. And development that gave a great sense so far of fulfillment. Definitely something to just relax and enjoy if your feeling burned out on the standard stuff that comes out today and just want to relax.

Hopefully this helps someone. As I wouldnt say its a go to anime. But a refreshing breather for those who need it.
