Review of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
This is my first review, i don't like to review media based on individual abilities such as narrative, character or visual. I am also a retarded 13-year old, fite me. PS. This is a non-spoiler review which i will keep it that way from the best of my ability. Code Geass is one of the most beloved anime of all time, it is considered a classic to many and has a large fanbase with universal and unanimous praise left and right. Do I think it's a good anime? Yes. Is it one of the greatest pieces of media and literature ever written and is it better than DeathNote? NO. It has so many plot holes that it is like someone shot it with an AR. Some characters are also really irritating and there is a good deal of fanservice. There is also ONE episode I would consider to be the worst episode in the entire Code Geass anime franchise, there is also some filler. They also should have used the Colors OP for the entire series because that OP was just so good.
But I would still consider it to be an amazing anime, it is engaging, bombastic and theatrical. And has a dramatic, compelling rivalry between the two main characters and their ideologies. It is also addictive in the way it leaves a lot of plot twists which leave you wanting for more, it develops a vise grip on the watcher. It has some effective symbolism, clear, focused motives for characters and bombastic , complex and rich dialogue.
The mecha fights feel dated and boring but Code Geass works it's way around this by showing characters reactions, interactions and dynamics while in the fight.
Overall, I found Code Geass to be a generally entertaining show, it's not flawless but what is?
