Review of High School of the Dead

At first glance this is the kind of anime I would hate. It's full of female fanservice, zombies, and that's not the kind of thing I'm into. So when I finally sat down to watch it, I realized that I actually greatly enjoyed this series. I mentioned that I don't like zombies, which is totally true. I hate zombies. So if you can make me watch a show were that is one of the prominent factors and I end up liking it, you did something right. The zombie aspect is nothing we haven't seen before in zombie movies before. But it does a good jobof portraying the panic that would arise in a zombie apocalypse-type setting.

As for the fanservice, after a while it doesn't bother you anymore, as you get so used to it that it's nothing you aren't expecting. And while some of it is just your standard panty shots and bouncing boobs, the bullet dodging breasts scene is one that will cement itself into anime history as one of the stupidest and most over-the-top fancservice moments in any anime ever. And it was still kinda awesome.

Both of the dubs were good, the animation was pretty, and the music was passable but nothing to sneeze at with the only notable song being the opening.

I enjoyed this show way more than I should have, and while I can't really recommend that you watch it, it would still be worth your time if you're into this sort of thing.
