Review of High School of the Dead

Busty school girls in a zombie show, how much more cliche can anime get and yet it's not boring. Sure, it starts in school and with bunch of tropes but right from the start story starts deviating from the tropes of old. Story is simple, almost too simple and eventually doesn't have a goal. This anime is about characters and their development in view of this new situation world has placed them in. And that is the part I loved the most as every single main character goes through becoming of age and have to mature fast if they are to survive. Interspersed are somelove triangles and octagons and we got ourselves an interesting anime.

Animation was great, at no point did I see boring things and lazy reuses of shots and backgrounds. Sound design was also great.

Should you watch it, absolutely. It's kind of mindless fun with good characters and very interesting action scenes and with only twelve episodes it doesn't overstays its welcome. One of very few shows I have rewatched many times.
