Review of Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

Story - 10/10 This anime made me seriously think. If I was put in the same situation as Reeiji Azuma (MC), losing my memory, being forced to kill or be killed, what would have I done? (Thank God, I haven't killed any person, but this anime seriously made me thinking... ) Sitting at my comfort, I am thinking - May be I should have struggled and tried to escape rather than killing people for no reason, even if I lost my life in the process. I know it's easy to say. I pray to God to spare me of such a misery of life. Life is beautiful,life is painful, all depends on fate.

It's been a long time since any story made me thinking this seriously.

After finishing the anime and seeing the very last painful scene, I ask myself, "Does a person who killed so many people, no matter what reason it was for, deserve to live? Even though he didn't wish to kill anyone?"

.. I came to the same conclusion as the anime... NO.

The art wasn't fair. There wasn't enough blood... (LOL). I'm serious, you kill a person and there isn't blood, it's not good art. It's good to avoid unnecessary gore. But too much of avoiding blood and corpse, it sure kills the mood.

The main characters received sufficient development. They were realistic. Easy to understand. Easy to relate and feel.

The villain (Scythe Master) is an evil scientist, an agent of chaos... This is a downer. The villain should have had more realistic reasons...

Enjoyment - 9/10

The story is heart touching. It's painful. It makes me want to enjoy the life to the fullest. The first few episodes may seem mediocre, may be even boring. But very soon, I got hooked up.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom is a gem in my anime collection. It had a different taste to it. It's realistic, sad, painful. A great tragedy anime.
