Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
'If only time will turn itself back, if only all this would not have happened' This series is, if not, is one of the most tear-jerking series I have seen throughout my years of watching anime. This story introduces character after character with careful precision and with just the right amount of depth to give you a clear picture on the state of mind of every character. Even if you weren't paying attention, the motives driving the characters are clear as day but one would wonder what happened to all of them and why. The characters would give out a sort of vibe in their own waybut ultimately you cannot hate nor can you love any of the characters considering their actions, judgements and methods of handling regret. Regret is the driving force behind this train of feels that you may board but the beauty of this anime is that you get to see why regret isn't such a bad emotion to have at times. It shows you that regret is actually a starting point, a beginning from an end and most importantly, the way to maturity.
One more thing to note is the realism of the characters that may occasionally catch you off guard, thinking that this may potentially be a real story, depicted in anime form and such is when your feelings of empathy begins to kick in. Its nice to watch an anime that tries to captivate the audience by tying them with the characters of the story.
Overall, this series deserves praise in all aspects but let me warn you, this anime has a tendency to cause 'anime-hangover'.
