Review of Natsume's Book of Friends
The Natsume Yuujinchou series is a real work of art; something about this manga/anime just has an undefinable quality to it that cannot be matched by many other series that deal with youkai or the supernatural (aside from, I would say, Mushishi). And don't let the way this series seemingly looks like a slow-paced nichijou-type story hold you back from dipping your toe into this story's wonderful world! Honestly, Natsume Yuujinchou is eerie and supsense-ridden, while also managing to be heartbreakingly sad and heartwarmingly kind. All of its characters are well fleshed out and make you care about them - even the ones you meet in passing. Honestly, this series has been a favourite of mine since it came out, and even though it looks like a pain to watch the anime or read the manga because it seems like a lot (it has 6 seasons of the anime and a couple movies) I would NEVER moan or groan if they decided to make more seasons to the anime - it's just that good!
