Yattara · review
This manga didn't hook me right away. Probably because I found the characters hard to relate with. Also, this manga seemed to be eerily reflective of our world. There was always this slight sense of dread and helplessness when reading this. Even so, it contained hope too. Strangely, my favorite part of this manga may be the ending. Without spoiling it, I loved the character interactions Nanato had. I loved how alive everything seemed. Back to the beginning of the manga, I didn't really like the narration. Though, written eloquently. It didn't feel immersive for me. I theorized that one of the children was readingaloud the story of Yattara. But that wasn't the case. That being said, I enjoyed reading Yattara. It made me ponder, reflect and hope. Still, I'm not fully done with this manga just yet. I wonder what the central theme was. Family? Perhaps redemption? I'm curious what Ooyamada next work will be.
