I grew up in the era of 80's anime, saint seiya, captain tsubasa, voltes v, but i never got around to watching saint seiya. i would always get bored and stop at 6 episodes in because it was dragging. But not this time, Saint Seiya 2019 got me hooked by updated animation. Sure it's cgi, but its way better than the Berserk 2016/Kingdom cgi. Those look like voxels compared to this. The color palette used pops like good ol anime and the vertex are smooth like anti-aliasing was in overdrive. Also the animation movement is smooth, though not 60fpssmooth, but still better than the previous cgi based anime.

One more thing i liked about this version of Saint Seiya is the pacing. They don't try to fill the episode with fight talk like in dragonball or one piece where they milk battles for more episodes, some even squeeze in a "tournament" just to stretch the series. They could stretch a single fight into like 3 episodes. So i was like groaning when i first heard there was gonna be a tournament. Thankfully, the whole thing was over in 1 episode.

I never knew the full lore of Saint Seiya and maybe its a good thing because its what also allowed me to enjoy the ONA without thinking too much of the original lore and doing comparisons instead of just enjoying the series.
