Much better than the original. Not only did things get sped up and tone changed to align with the manga, the timing and music has changed completely in some crucial scenes, resulting in a vast improvement from the slow, pretentious, vapid directing of the original anime. Instead of feeling like I'm watching some B grade movie that takes itself too seriously, it finally has some of that crazy zaniness that made the manga so adored by fans all over the world in the first place. It's not perfect (since this is still a recap of the original anime), but it makes me hopeful for the upcomingmovie.

If it was up to me, I would had changed the voice actor for Denji too. His voice is still too serious and solemn for the type of fun, wacky character that Denji is supposed to be. But I definitely the VA made an effort to improve from the original (eg inserting maniacal laughter during the fight scenes).

Another issue is that they are still using the original soundtrack which again is too serious for the vibe of the anime.

But overall I love that they tried to salvage the original anime as best they could.
