Review of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2
Alrighty then, so since I don't see many people in these reviews talking about the ending of this shitty-ass anime, I will be doing that myself. WARNING THIS ENTIRE REVIEW IS BASED OFF OF THE ENDING OF THE ANIME SO THE WHOLE THIS IS JUST SPOILERS Okay, so to get things started, the endings is so goddamn confusing. So the around the end of the 9th episode, the actually War of the Underworld is over after everyone except Kirito is forced logged out, as well as Asuna who stays behind to simp over Kirito since she didn't get to do too much of that this season. Then we get into the IRL stuff in episode 10. So after everyone is logged out and the Underworld is put into mass-acceleration mode, and Kirito is stuck in there for 200 years, cause sure why not, we get to see Alice walking around at a press conference with the Akihiko's girlfriend(the scientist girl who snuck Asuna aboard the turtle ship during Alicization), and they are going over how her being a legit flesh and blood AI is going to affect the world and the work force.
Now I bet you're thinking to yourself, "why did I just read all that shit, it was completely unimportant and pointless," exactly. But wait, it gets much worse
After all that we finally arrive at episode 11. It starts off with Kirito on the phone with Akihiko Kayaba's girlfriend, talking about Alice and how she's doing in the real world. Literally 1 minute later we get to see Alice somehow shrunk, naked, and in a delivery box. Yes you read that correctly, SHRUNKEN, NAKED, AND IN A DELIVERY BOX. Like wtf man. Then we get this whole talk about "who am I" and then they go to the dojo in Kirito's house cuz he's somehow rich and living alone with his little sister/cousin. Kirito gets his ass beat because he can't do shit without his full harem and plot armour, and afterword we see Alice trying to force herself onto Kirito. Then we get teleported to his parents house which, weren't even mentioned the entire rest of the story, where he then goes to apologize for being a completely useless son who contributes nothing but deliver video-game-justice to criminals who kill AI in a simulated, not real, world. But of course this being SAO, his parents somehow find a way to compliment him and praise him for being the best son they could ask for, right in front of some random blonde haired girl they've never heard of, or seen before. Not to mention he was half dead for like the past few months, and there was no concern there, especially them not knowing, considering it was top secret, and even Asuna, the video-game-justice man's girlfriend, wasn't allowed to know where he was. Alright moving on, we get a bit more completely useless info, Alice calls Kirito's dad father, as if they're about to get married, they talk with Asuna, and Kirito's "daughter" and launch into the Underworld, which it's never explained how.
This is where the show loses all relation to the word sensible
So I forgot one MAJOR detail from the end of episode 10. So apparently since Kirito was stuck in the underworld for 200 years or whatever, it was possible they would have trouble extracting his soul from the underworld, and we learn that the Kirito I just went on and on about is actually a clone. Now somehow original Kirito is just fine with this situation, as he is being kept in a computer. He vows that he will protect the underworld, but then the original form never shows up again.
Picking up where I left off, they enter the Underworld, Kirito, Asuna, and Alice, and they are flying in space. Yes, fucking space. They then see this giant space monster. Yes, giant space monster. They use their former, god-like admin powers to defeat it, and they meet Kirito and Eugeo's students from the Knight Academy in the regular Allicization. This is where it really confuses me because last time I checked, 200 years has passed in there, and you're telling me Kirito's student is still alive and kicking, nonetheless only like 2 years older???? Then after a small showing of smiliing from the 3 "main" characters, the screen fades to black and we get the message for the Re-mastery of the original SAO, which I'm not even going to bother with. Since that was the only decent season aside from Alicization, they can only fuck it up.
So anyway that ending leaves some questions behind like:
What happened to the original Kirito who disappeared after vowing to protect the Underworld?
Why the actual fuck are there spaceships? Is SAO going for a Gundam, or Eureka 7 vibe?
How the hell did this cloning thing even happen?
Why was this season so absolute dog-shit?
And lastly, Most importantly
Why the hell did I waste my time on this ass anime thinking it would be good?
