Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

It's themes and ideas are very personal to the touch. A slice of life adventure fantasy show with some action. There are many heart warming, enjoyable, relatable elements to the show that pulls you in. No heavy deep themes but does explore said themes and focuses on the heart and emotion of the story. It's not a 10 out of 10 from a logical stand point but an emotional one. The idea of fear, the slow chip away others can have an influence on you and the journey you explore with others. Keep in mind the pacing of the show is slow, yes the main castare powerful but not without their flaws to balance it out.

The journey of the past and current do have thematic ties and the usage of flash backs aren't needlessly done but rather given weight and meaning when done so. Yes the show is much more on the nose and spells it out for you, however it doesn't take away from the show. There are still subtle details to that do play a cause and affect within the story for said events you might not notice at first.

A light spoiler but the elves aren't human in how they think or view time versus other anime where they're closer to human with their thinking and mindset.

This show won't have complex themes or narrative it explores, it won't have things that are explored deeper in meaning in more of a blob, it's more simple and laid out with more focus being given to the journey and the characters growing and developing.
