Review of A Whisker Away
I guess this was a romance story between a sensitive girl and a sensitive boy and a meddling cat thing. The only emotional response this movie evoked from me was from the stepmom and her cat. Really made me evaluate my relationship with my cats. I cuddled them through whole movie. So relatable. The main characters? Not relatable, like able, or realistic at all. Sorry, Hanae Natsuki, I honestly watched this for you. Story: A mess. First half was okay. Somewhat problematic in areas but I figured they would be resolved as the plot progressed. They did not. Art: Not a fan. The scenery was beautiful. Characters were meh.Animation was absolutely excruciating.
Sound: Fine. The Yorushika songs were good.
Characters: This is where the movie completely fails. I can handle some craziness in plot if the character development is solid. Let me tell you. You will not like these characters....no exception.
Enjoyment/Overall: I’ve had this on my to watch list for awhile, and I am very happy to finally cross it off. And that’s it. No emotional impact at all.
