Review of Horimiya
THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE This show started off great!...but after episode 6 it started to go downhill. As I said earlier the first 6 episodes were very fun, energetic, cute and just the right amount of sappy. Miyamura and Hori's relationship was a lot better when they didn't care about what other people thought about them and their relationship. I liked that Hori was devoted to her family (mainly her little brother Souta) and how Hori acts like a second mother to him, and I loved Miyamura's long hair and how he was a secret punk rock kid who liked to do impulsive things andsurprisingly enough loved to bake. You're able to see these traits on full display in the first half of the series. During the second half of the series you lose focus on Hori and Miyamura and start to focus on the supporting character like Yoshikawa Yuki, Ishikawa Tooru, Ayasaki Remi and, Iura Shuu to name a few and that's when the story looses the lightheartedness that drew some audiences in. For me the supporting casts story lines don't do a good job keeping you interested in the story. Hori and Miyamura fall into the background like in the later seasons of Little House on the Prairie. They just makes cameos in a show that was supposed to be primarily about them and the romantic relationship that blooms and grows with how they mature in life. You lose the heart of the show when you switch focus, to basic characters and basic plot problems. I gave this show a 6/10 because the first half of the show was so good. Watch if you want.
