Review of Parasyte: The Maxim

Good show overall, but with a very annoying drawback. Instead of (or in addition to) the usual plot holes which I'm fairly used to nowadays and can accept in return for some mindless fun, this show has holes in the character brains. Huge, gaping, undulating holes, and I'm not even talking about the parasites here who can morph their heads as they want. What I mean is characters doing stupid dumb inconsistent shit that will drive you crazy if you try to find reason in it. I'm usually quite ok with a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, just not in the area of characterbehavior.

Say, what if an almost-main character solved the show's main mystery, exposed a parasite and even survived confronting it alone (which in itself was dumb too but is pretty par-for-the-course as these things go so I don't count it). What do you think they'd do next? Was "inexplicably turn into a background character and never mention it ever again" on your list?

Or what do you think about characters with super powers always waiting for at least a couple of side victims before using them? How about soldiers that know they are dealing with mass slaughter killing machines not instantly going for the kill? Or not keeping sight on a known mass murderer while in a room littered with guns on the floor? Or many similar examples, both from the MC and from others.
