Review of Land of the Lustrous
Modest: Score: 9 Review: Houseki no Kuni sets the bar for CG anime visuals, completes the aesthetic package with stellar sound and music, beautiful world building, characters so well voiced and charming, I struggle to pick favorites, and a sense of mystery that leaves you always craving more. A unique coming of age story, told from a perspective impossible and alien to humanity. The only flaw is the ending. Read. The. Manga. My 9 only really stands because I know I continue to like it ever onward. Wckd: Score: 8 Review: Houseki no Kuni is refreshing and original. Going into it all I knew was that ithad 'CG done well'. And it does it very very well, in fact where normally CG is a detriment to a show, in this case the CG adds to the charm of the show. The animation is fluid and lots of detail has been put in the little movements of the characters. The show has interesting characters, with interesting 'properties' relating to their real world mineral counterparts. The world itself is interesting and makes you hungry for wanting to learn more about it. All in all the show is very clever, which is why it's a shame the story isn't finished. That being my only real criticism.
