Review of Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord
First of all… who even comes up with such long names for anime?! 😅 Anyway, I started this one on 4th Oct and wrapped it up by 5th Oct 2025 — yes, in a single stretch. And of course, it all begins with our old friend Truck-kun. Because why not? Classic isekai entry, right? So yeah, this one’s an Otome Isekai with a female lead, kind of like those fairytale setups — gives off Disney princess or Barbie fantasy vibes. I’ve seen similar ones before like I’m in Love with the Villainess or Trapped in a Dating Sim (which was one of my favorites… though let’snot talk about its second season 😅).
Coming back to this anime — honestly, I liked it! It’s a short 12-episode ride, and by the end, the main villain’s gone, so maybe no season 2… but I really hope there is one. I wanna see more of Yumiella and Patrick’s love story develop.
Animation-wise, Jumondou did a decent job. Fumihiko Shimo handled the script, and while Nokomi’s manga art wasn’t groundbreaking, it still worked fine for the tone of the show.
Now, let’s talk about the villainess — she’s honestly adorable. I swear, I kind of fell for her myself. 🥲
Comedy-wise, it starts off slow — those first few episodes didn’t make me laugh much. But by episode 7 or 8, the deadpan humor really started hitting. Her poker face combined with those ridiculous moments actually got me smiling a lot.
So no, it’s not some revolutionary isekai or deeply emotional story — but if you’re in the mood for something light, female-led, and quietly funny, this one’s worth a watch. Definitely a one-time watch, and I’d rate it 7 out of 10.
Simple, chill, and kind of cute — just the way I like to end a long day. 😄
