Review of Tokyo Revengers
This series is a modern home-run, and surely an instant classic. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it is only 24 episodes long, and I am hungry for much more! It appears they will animate a seasons 2 which I am really looking forward to watching because as-is, it is incomplete. I would consider this to be a super dark shonen that borders on seinen. It is a really interesting take on a time-travel / delinquent theme that never gets boring and stays clear of any troupes while at the same time remains comfortable to watch. The characters are interestingand have a decent amount of depth to them, the plot is great, dialogue is killer, and my favorite part is that every single second of this series counts. There is never a dull moment, never a "filler episode", and it will always keep you engaged.
The art and character design are brilliant and the action scenes are very detailed which give this series a sort of dark, sexy, gory vibe. I wish they would have made the characters all a tiny bit older because for their age the events that are portrayed seem a bit illogical... but they are written so well that they are quite relatable regardless. Overall, this is a fantastic shonen and deserves a watch.
