Review of Redo of Healer
I didn't particularly enjoy Redo of Healer for a variety of reasons, but I'll do my best to keep this review short. I can't recommend the series, not because of the gore, rape and other dark themes, but because it's plain boring. I didn't find the story to be engaging or special. And that's fine in some cases - good characters and interesting dynamics can save a series that has a weak or cliché plot. Unfortunately, Redo of Healer wasn't saved by anything like that. The characters are one-dimensional cardboard cutouts. Their interactions with each other and the main character fall flat. I don't mind the protagonistbeing a villain, but he simply isn't that interesting of a guy, either. The sex scenes feel lacking in personal connection, rather they feel kind of.... vulgar. Even the animation quality wasn't that special.
The main character Keyaru's special healing power is also more or less a variation on plot armor. It's like a plot weapon that turns him, his powers, and the way he approaches combat into something yawn-worthy.
Overall, neither the combat, sex and rape and revenge or harem collecting feels significant or impactful. It can't evoke a real response from me in that regard, so I feel like Redo of Healer has failed even when it comes to its shock factor.
