Review of Lazarus

This was an anime, who didn't believe in itself. The starting point was all good, knowing the studio around the anime, knowing who direct it, knowing his previous work, and so what expecting to him, and after seeing the trailer. And i'm pretty sure we all know that those artists, can't make more than 2 or 3 masterpieces in their life, so nobody is asking Watanabe to get us a second Cowboy Bepop, but we all expect at least a high level anime, something good, surely not a poor written story. And i want to really like this show, because in the end, it's not atotal bad anime, like other on this season, for example the new Gundam. The anime is totally watchable, the sound is good, it can be a bit boring and repetitive on the first 6 episodes, but not to a point to drop it.

The issue is the expectation people have from this show, and they are totally right on that, even worse the fact that the anime, start with telling us stuff like: Hey! I'm the new Cowboy Bepop! Maybe i get it wrong, but starting from the trailer, with the Jazz music we all recognize from Cowboy Bepop and the main character, Alex, a copy of Spike on how it looks and behave. After having finished the show and watching again the trailer, seems like they spent more time and money on the trailer itself.

The show is empty, the story is very basic and predictable from the start, the writing is bad, dialogue is uninteresting and unengaging. Character are one way, and most of them have no soul, they don't talk, they are generic.
In a few words, the plot is too basic, and the narrative too empty.
It feels like a project that need to be done, and people was forced on doing something.
Adding the fact they were trying to catch people and interest, with the nostalgia of Cowboy Bepop.

They failed, on everything, and it's unfortunate, because the show had potential. Fortunately for them, looking to MAL and internet, almost nobody watch this show.

Animation was fine and the overall quality of drawing wasn't really good from the start, i was hoping for something more refined, just like Cowboy Bepop. What can be saved, it's the music, not amazing, but good.

I still give a nice rating, because i've seen much worse stuff this season, like all anime i've seen, more than 10 shows, and this one is actually watchable, if you don't have too much expectation.
