I really wanted to like this, especially as the concept and ideas presented are really interesting, and the pieces of worldbuilding we get as the series goes on really does a lot to bring you into the world they've created. It's a compelling and intriguing world full of questions, and we only really get to see some of the answers to those questions. But the biggest problem with the series, and that which ultimately destroys it in my eyes, is that's it's too short. Each story is too short, each book is too short, the series as a whole is too short. It blasts through theevents without much downtime, interesting ideas that should be explored are just sort of glossed over or given very quick explanations, and ultimately you end the series feeling decidedly unsatisfied and more than a bit peeved off that the final volume felt as fast as it did.
This has some incredible ideas, and some good exploration of those ideas, but it's such a short series and that length really does hurt it in the end.
