Review of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind
Light spoilers ahead so be advised: After quite a long break compared to the other parts,Jojo part 5 finally started airing last October, and with it came the hype and memes we all know and love, almost 10 months later it finally ended last sunday and boy was it a ride, however it definitly doesn't live up to all the hype surrounding it and honestly I feel like(don't kill me for this) It's a little bit overrated and here's why: Story:(8) Well this is a JoJo so the story is pretty much similar to the other stand parts when it comes to the plot:basically we get introduced to a newJoJo,he then dicovers that this weird ability he's always had is a stand, become friends with a bunch of cool characters, sets off to a journey where he fights mini bosses making up his way to the big boss.Yeah nothing outstanding(pun intended) but JoJo manages to do it so well that we almost don't notice how simple the story is.The plus this series has is that the symbolism with fate is also very well-written; although a bit misplaced in the series, the setting in Italy was also something I appreciated, and the backstory given about the arrow was cool.
Art:(8)
hmm,This is pretty subjective to be honest, I found the art in part 5 unique but not as much as part 4's.The characters are very well designed and none of them felt bland, the background is amazing and I vey much enjoyed the colors used, you really feel like David production gave it their best, however I felt like some action scenes could have been better and there definitly were a few derpy moments, but again I heard that DP are working with a restricted budget so it's understandable.
Sound:(6)
Well let's just say that apart from part 2's ost, I never felt like jojo's soundtrack was catchy or good or nice, I even felt, in this part, that the sound didn't fit in some moments, however some songs were astounding especially the dance scene in the first episodes or the ost "dream" I liked those, but the rest was meh to be frank, I hope they work more on this aspect next part
Character:(9)
For me this is the best aspect of part 5, the characters are all very well-written with amazing backstories, wether it is main characters or side characters, We feel that they all have a strong motive for what they're doing, a part from a few villains of course, the stands(which are pretty much considered characters at this point) I felt were more elaborate this time and we had some really unique abilities which made the main cast beating them more interesting,Like I genuinely wanted to know how they'd beat this or that stand.
Enjoyment: (8)
As I said JoJo never fails to at least be a very good show, it honestly is surprising and astonishing how such a long running series is able to be this consistent, the enjoyment for me in this part is less apparent than some others but it still was enough to make me eagerly wait for friday night, however as someone who likes anime with good music , I felt like that part definetly affetced my enjoyment.
Overall:(8)
To finish this review, I liked this part, the characters are something that JoJo has always proved to be good at and it surely delivered this time, however this could easily have been a 9 if it had music more to my liking and a bit more depth in the story, but not only the anime , just the whole 10 months worth of memes and hype and youtube compilations and reviews... I will surely miss this environment until the next part(shit we only have like 3 parts left, don't we) hopefully they'll animate it,until then
Arrivederci!
