Review of Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front - Babylonia
After seeing too many highlights of Babylonia on Youtube, I decided I better watch this before the whole thing gets spoiled by Youtube. Overall, this series was worth the time invested. I watched this having no time invested into anything released prior to this relating to FGO, so I felt I had to overlook things here and there in the story and just enjoy what is shown in this series. The show can be a slow burn, but picks up when it needed to, and pushed the pace for the last half of the series. In the end the show livedup to the Fate franchise and delivered some really nice sequences that will be memorable for a while.
Animation 9/10
- Beautiful scenes from the get-go, at times had me thinking they need to save the budget for the good parts, but the consistency was there throughout. The CGI of the Lahmu was off-putting though, but they get little screentime.
Sound 8/10
- Good BGM, great SE, OP/EDs are okay, the voice acting was good.
Story 7/10
- It's a story of the Holy Grail, not complicated, although I felt as if I needed to watch something prior to this. Generally, it's watchable without any prior knowledge of the FGO ethos.
Characters 9/10
- Really enjoyed the characters, many of which have unique personalities. Of course, our 2 main characters though, are cookie cutter protagonists, but that was overlooked because the rest of the characters are great.
Enjoyment 8/10
- Slow paced at first, great at the end, with memorable characters and great action sequences.
If you like action, watch it. If you like Fate, watch it. If you like anime, watch it. If you like shots of Ishtars' butt, watch it.
