Review of The Ancient Magus' Bride
This anime was a very hyped anime but it was very much worth it. It has recently ended and I would like to say that this anime is one of the best I've watched this season. We follow our main heroine, Chise, who has striking red hair and isn't your normal 16-year-old teenager. She's shy and quiet and doesn't show her opinion until she meets Elias at her auction. He decides to make her his apprentice and his future bride. She begins to learn magic and makes many friends along the way. She shows small sections of her past until she fully reveals her pastin a full episode. You get to follow Chise learn magic and Elias learn more about human emotions and learn more about Chise.
Along with the main protagonists, you also meet the main antagonist, Cartaphilius (Joseph). He is first seen as manipulative, no emotion, one of those villains who are always in a cheerful mood but as you watch the series, you see how he develops and also learns about his past, seeing how he became this way.
Even when Cartapilius ruins lives and makes things difficult for Chise, Elias and all their friends, Chise and always there trying to make the situation better. She always puts others before her, even if they want to get rid of her.
Chise is the type of character you enjoy seeing on the screen, seeing her develop along with Elias is very satisfying.
This anime is mainly action, fantasy and magic and a slice of life but there are always scenes where they make you laugh. There are also scenes that will make you cry, a healthy mixture of emotions that constantly make you want to see what happens next.
The art style and voice acting of this anime is incredible, making you feel the fantasy and magic of this show. The music is also amazing, especially the first opening, "HERE" by JUNNA. It makes you hyped for the episode and isn't one of those opening you skip. It's something you always listen and sing to, hard to forget. It sets the scene with magic, action, many emotions.
I really enjoyed this series. Although I had higher hopes for the last episode, I was not disappointed as it ends with Elias and Chise having a better relationship and Chise now has a life that she should be living surrounds by everyone who loves her. Definitely worth the watch and the time to complete.
