Review of Tsukigakirei
Tsuki ga Kirei was an anime recommended to me by one of my friends. To put it simply; I wasn't disappointed. Here is my (hopefully helpful) review of Tsuki ga Kirei. Story: 9 School-based romance is nothing new in the anime world. I'm not a huge romance person myself, so I was impressed with how well Tsuki ga Kirei differentiated itself from generic school-based romance animes whilst portraying such an immersive and conveying story. Of course, since Tsuki ga Kirei was a school-based romance anime, there were certain limitations to the story. Essentially, I was impressed with how entertaining Tsuki ga Kirei was, being that isa school-romance anime.
Art: 9
The art and animation were well done in Tsuki ga Kirei. The only thing stopping me from giving this section a 10 was the CGI. Although it may not be a huge deal-breaker for some, I'm not a fan of CGI in anime, and much of that was included in Tsuki ga Kirei to make crowd-shots and city scenes seem more lively.
Sound: 9
The music in Tsuki ga Kirei matched the story very well: beautiful and romantic.
Character: 10
This is where I believe Tsuki ga Kirei peaked; its characters. KotarÅ Azumi, one of the protagonists of Tsuki ga Kirei, was very well made. His character was that of a shy and reclusive boy, however, he was assertive, bold, and knew what he wanted. There was more dimension to him than the shy-and-nerdy stereotype expected of a character like himself. Additionally, the relationships in Tsuki ga Kirei were natural and didn't feel contrived. Some characters (cough cough Chinastu) even angered me. Isn't that a bad thing? You might say. By angered, I mean angered by how real the character's thoughts, feelings, and actions were. The characters in Tsuki ga Kirei are EXTREMELY relatable; it's almost scary.
Enjoyment: 10
I couldn't stop grinning during Tsuki ga Kirei. The best thing about this series is how NATURAL and REAL it felt. The characters (not just the protagonists) were sculptured in such a way that they felt REAL. The relationships felt REAL, the events felt REAL, the disputes felt REAL. There were so many emotions conveyed to me whilst watching this anime; happiness, anger, sadness, etc., that sometimes, I thought I was watching an actual pair of middle schoolers fall in love.
Overall: 9
Honestly, this has been my favorite romance anime thus far. The pacing, I must say, was perfect. The art was beautiful, the story was entertaining, the music was great and matched the anime perfectly, and the characters had ACTUAL personalities to them. Everything about this anime seemed real. There were many things I'd wanted to mention about this anime, however, I felt they would be better appreciated if one experienced them oneself. What are you waiting for?! Go watch Tsuki ga Kirei!
