With the first episode, I was really apalled. Too much problemes going on there. But I gave the serie a chance and by the 3rd episode, the story had beagin correctly, the dialogues went better and the eyes, so weird at first, seemed to improve a bit. I won't deny I still had to fasten some bits here and there, as their lovey-dovey scenes make no sense at all most of the time, and the serie itself cut short (really really short!) a lot of what happened in the manga. As a result, we have the full story of it, condensed in 12 episodes, and they stillmanaged to keep the cringey dialogues typical of otome games: that's some skill for you.

So:
_If you have doubts after the first episode but enjoyed the original works, give it 2 more episodes to see. Once the pace picks up I got hooked 'til the end pretty easily.
_If you just want an easy to follow, all-is-good shojo-typical romance, you can go too. The subplot is closely related to the character's relationships anyway, so no loss of time for irrelevant things.
_I f you enjoyed the original works for its subplot and the character in-depth growth, you shouldn't expect much. Those were blithely cut to fit the whole main plot in that 1 season.

I'd like to add a special shout-out to Akari, whose character is really the best in this anime: the author really made a masterpiece of her personnality and use of that to ignite the whole story, it was really refreshing ^u^
