That Blue Sky Feeling · review
This series was super cute! It veers away from a lot of traditional romance & BL tropes, and has a chubby protagonist, which is a very nice change of pace. I haven't read it in a couple of years, but I remember generally enjoying it. However, I feel like I couldn't enjoy it fully due to Sanada's 26 year old exboyfriend. He's downright predatory and nobody really comments on it in the story itself; he's just treated as a weird sort of mentor to Noshiro. I really had high hopes for this manga, but the only thing I really remember clearly from it is the exboyfriend, which I think is telling. I feel like his existence itself isn't the problem; it's the way he's treated as such a normal non-problem. I would've enjoyed the series much more if they didn't portray his past relationship with Sanada as a normal age gap relationship, and didn't have him act as a guiding hand to Noshiro.
