Hisureba · review
An intriguing ecchi story that is driven by dark themes. It is a narrative that is entangled with sexual trauma and incestuous undertones. What I kind of like about this is that unlike Nana & Kaoru's treatment of the genre, Hisureba has a degree of realism and introspection that is greatly appreciated. Still, a story like this relies a great deal on its characters and sadly, while Hisureba's characters are promising in their premise, it really desires greater internal depth. The author, however, at the moment seems preoccupied with introducing new characters and building conflict and tension when character study should be the focus. Italso seems like the villain of this manga is a one-dimensional sexual deviant which makes the multi-dimensional approach the manga seemed like it should take further out of reach.
All in all, though I'm keeping my eye on this one, I'm not holding my breath for it.
