I've read and seen quite a few Yuri works, some of which became some of my favorite manga ever, and this light novel will probably end up as one of my favorite works aswell. Even though it may start off as strange, and some people may be filtered by the "kinky" atmosphere which sets off the narration, i can guarantee there's much more that meets the eye. Shuukura is the story of two classmates, Sendai and Miyagi, whom apparently have absolutely nothing in common, that thanks to a totally random encounter outside of school enviroment, end up seeing each other on a weekly basis atMiyagi's house, with Miyagi buying her classmate time for 5.000¥/day and compelling her to obey her every order.

The way their dynamic developes brick by brick, chapter by chapter is truly mesmerizing and very well written. Both Sendai and Miyagi are broken individuals, they struggle with their own feelings due to their past and the way they've always lived. They do not understand each other, but at the same time, they're the perfect match. Chapter by chapter we see more of their desires, their flaws, the incongruities in thei way of thinking and acting, their possesiveness and jealousy, and last but not least, their intimacy. This series is capable of expressing such a diverse array of emotions in a single chapter, or surprise you in a way not many other works of the kind could. After a confusing and apparently emotionless start to their relationship, the way their feelings bloom for each other has honestly been some of the best reads for this genre, and I would never not recommend this work to anyone who enjoys Shoujo Ai or Romance in general, especially for anyone who enjoys slowburn love stories stories, Shuukura is the all and end all of the kind.
