Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
"A Redemption" [STORY (9)] The story focusing on a regret feelings over someone that has passed away. It was a simple story about friendship bond. Deeply in their heart, they love each other so much, but they just can't show it, especially to Menma. A heart-touching story, where every one of them are so in love with Menma, but they decide to burry it for some reason. It's a simple and understandable story, but it could easily hit our heart. Everything are so simple. Simple, but in the same time frustrating. The tone that we feel while watching this show felt really mellow, frustrating, and heavyfor our heart to carry.
[CHARACTER (8)] The characters are so relatable. It's like us. We have trauma, fear, prestige, ego, selfishness, and guilty. We feel love and hate. We can distinguish good and bad. We feel guilt and burdened. We feel wound and fixed. We feel pride and shame. And that's how they are. Menma is a strong factor that they keep loving each other deep down in their heart. Even they can't show it, but in the end we can see how irreplaceable Menma is. We also can see their inner conflict, and that's also a common thing for human. We also can see their efforts to succeeded a redemption mission. Fight their own ego and their guilt. Fight their own fear of the past. And that's just a beautiful journey.
[ART (8)] Pretty simple and not that pretty. Average art. Not bad, but also not great. But most important thing is the production design. Distinct and different. It has character on it, not just some random or regular art. Also the way they use a colorful color to describe each character is one of the great things.
[SOUND (8)] Cheers for the OP and ED song. It represent a simple and light-hearted tone of the story. The ED song really hit me when it played in a particular scenes.
[ENJOYMENT (9)] I just couldn't stop continuing to the next episode. My heart felt touched. Every single episode. They're always going deeper into the characters and story each episode. Ofc the op and ed song also made me enjoyed this even more.
If there's any of you trashing this show, then I doubt that we're watching the same anohana.
