Review of Castle in the Sky

The best part here is that this kid has got guts. Both kids in fact, and the butt-kicking granny. Castle in the Sky will take you through a fantastic adventure filled with makeshift speedy hover crafts, old fashioned villages, very friendly neighbors, and lots and lots of explosives. Spontaneous and wonderful, right? The story had me laughing from the start once I discovered that one of the main antagonists was a granny. She is definitely still in her prime and her henchmen family make for a fairly comical experience. The main two characters, themselves, can be interesting. One is extremely courageous, friendly, and intelligent.The other shares similar traits, but is more dependent on others.

Now on with the ratings:
Story - 10 - I believe the story was very well outlined. The boy's dream is to discover the castle in the sky just as his father had. He also runs into a girl whom he want to protect, and make that his primary objective, as well, since she is constantly in danger. The girl, on the other hand, has the distinct goal of protecting her special crystal. Two groups of enemies continue to attack her and each other just to get their hands on her possession. The crystal itself even has a story line that pans out later on in the story.
Graphics - 10 - This was one of my favorite parts of this movie. The leg movements and environment damage were especially well done. Many things broke within each new environment. I think the DEVs just like to blow up things.
Soundtrack - 10 - Studio Ghibli does a great job of enveloping the viewer into each moment whether it's action, peace, or new discovery.
Character personas - 10 - Both of the main characters, the two antagonists, and the castle in the sky are well explained via their purpose and background.

Overall - Jeez, I am definitely a critic because I am going to drop the score to a 9. This is because I felt there was missing romance. Oh wait.. they are just kids.. these things don't happen to 10 year olds. *Ahem* Nevermind, this will be a 10.
