Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) Well, for years people have told me to watch this and finally I got around to watching it. I must say it was very good, even if it was majorly trippy in places. I can understand why the ending originally didn't go down well for many people and I will endeavour to catch up with all the current media. The story itself being a really well-made mecha show with the impending doom of all is great. It follows a really great storyline even if Shinji is a bit annoying with his personality. Based on everything he has been through it is difficultto blame him.
The art is obviously old but it is great at the same time. When this came out it must have been a masterpiece because in all honesty, it has aged really well.
The sounds of the show are great, they are one-minute action then next trippy. The flashing lights going through the with music creates a bizarre atmosphere that really builds up the tension as the story progresses.
Characters develop really well from start to finish with plenty of shocking revelations. I can see from the media I watched before this how Asuka and Rei formed one of the first waifu wars. For me, Asuka is the winner with Rei coming in close behind.
In the end, I was not disappointed with this show and I am glad to have finally watched it.
