As far as first impressions go, this certainly is one of the more unique ones yet but somehow still lacks something. Black Lagoon, at face value, looks like your typical action gangster anime with many guns and cool quotables. But it really goes as far as being philosophical as it can be while still maintaining it's bravado and swagger. With just 12 episodes in its first season, it definitely peaked my interest. Revy is the real showstopper here with her being over the top frightening gunslinger here. Her personality and prowess makes her one of a kind character. Rock too is a great character that providesthe brains to the brawns and even has a moral side to all of this. It didn't leave much room for Dutch and Benny to shine but I'm sure this will be touched on in the second season.

The things I did not like about this particular season is how spotty the dialogue can be. It seems like a lot of times they are trying to be cool all the time and less of realism in it. Sure it's a thrilling enjoyment with all the action but the setups could honestly use work. Although in just 12 episodes, they managed to fit in just enough for an enjoyable season.
