Review of Gintama

Yes, I know there are a bunch of Gintama series on MAL, but I think it would be better to write my overall review of the series on the first series' page. After taking a long break from watching anime, this was the first series I chose to watch. Before I began watching it, I was worried I may not get all the references and that it will all just a comedy show, so I was very surprised when I got to the first major serious arc (Benizakura-hen). Of course, there are weak episodes in the series, and the beginning may be a bit weak.However, I was drawn in from the beginning. What I love the most about this series is how it manages to perfectly balance comedy and serious moments. One second you may be laughing your ass off, and another second you may be heart wrenched from something. I also really love how the characters interact in the series. Overall, this is my favorite anime series, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something new to watch. Don't forget to skip the first two episodes though, as those are filler, but also because the general consensus is to skip them anyway. Start from episode 3.
