Review of Black Butler

The first few episodes of the anime were alright, at least they were a bit funny without too much forced humor ( "WE HAD THIS COOL CHARACTER PULL A FUNNY FACE NOW YOU MUST LAUGH LIKE THE BRAINLESS OTAKU YOU ARE" ). However, Ciel ( the angsty runt in the picture ) should start to get on viewer's nerves from the get-go. The brooding pedobear-bait character has been done entirely too many times. After I got past the introduction episodes and got to some more deeper story, I honestly just couldn't help feeling that this is nothing else but fanservice to angsty teenagers and Gothic Lolitatypes.

I'm sure it sells to those people but it's not very deep nor interesting. The characters are extremely shallow and cliched. It's selling point is the admittedly beautiful artwork but that's just about it.

If pointless shota-tease and clichéd spiritualism with gothic atmosphere is your thing, I'm sure you'll give this anime 10/10. However if you actually want some point or story to an anime, this probably isn't your cup of tea.
