This is the oneshot that-- oh, everyone already said it. Overall, as its own thing it's pretty neat. The story has a good theme about being bad at communicating (both at not being able to read the mood or just bad at talking in general) and manage to execute it in a nice and comfy manner, making it easy to access for everyone. The two characters are also likable and have a pretty nice combo/synergy between them. Overall, it's great and I want to see more of it, and there lies the biggest problem. That already exist. Komi-san is its own long-running series now, andwhile I can't say that a bad ending which will ruin everything isn't out of the question yet, I'm already at chapter 300+ and I can confidently say that nothing of that nature happened so far. There is just no reason why you would want to read this over the series from a story perspective.

The oneshot is pretty much just the early chapters of the long-running one, so you don't have to worry about missing out stuffs. The characters in here are also very limited compared to the much larger cast we'll see in the show. And there's also a huge limitation on how much Komi-san can develop in a oneshot compared to the 370-ish chapters we currently have.

I guess you could read it as an alternative start to the series, or like the prototype version which it kinda is, but I don't think that's something that will attract a lot of people unless they're that bored. Plus, I think Komi's design (more specifically her sillhoute) improve a lot in the series so there's that.

TLDR: It's pretty good, but the series exist and it's better and longer.
