Major Spoiler Warning: Although this WAS a fun read, it ended up being a waste of time. It seemed like the beginning of a really good manga which set itself up with a really interesting premise and interesting characters but it was handled in such a boring way. For example, Hinako appears to be a crazy person who kills people pretty flippantly and isn't really averse to seeing others die. Which is a notable personality traits and constrasts heavily with Maki's quiet and sensitive personality. This gives them some really good chemistry as their relationship seems very natural. They don't really get along well and themanga doesn't really pretend like they do. Hinako sees Maki sort of like a pet and Maki is vaguely aware of this treatment. But as Maki grows to depend on her, Hinako becomes increasingly attached to Maki and takes responsibility for her, going as far as to murder for her sake.
The thing is that Maki's sensitive personality appears to fade very quickly so a lot of their chemistry that they had earlier on sort of goes away, because Maki becomes largely unresponsive to the killing. It's also just... not that funny? Other reviewers said it is supposed to be a laidback, comically gruesome comedy, but it just isn't...? It portrays as though there will be a conflict between a comically unhinged girl and her sensible friend as they come to gripes with cannibalism, and then later on, it's implied that she straight up kills her father to feed Maki?
This is just never addressed. The author basically set up a bunch of things to address and every addressed any of them, leading to a very enjoyable read that leaves a bad taste in your mouth when it's over. 7/10
The art is pretty good and lends itself well to the narrative and pretty much everything else was done right so meh.
