Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

A fairly short and heartwarming romance between two childhood friends in the countryside. I wouldn’t really count it as a story with a plot progressing forward but snippets and moments of their relationship as they navigate high school. The pace is extremely slow with barely anything happening. There is a good focus on casual intimacy and the joy of doing things together albeit how boring it is. They are already an established couple but the mangaka did an amazing job in portraying their relationship and making the protagonists feel like an actual couple. It is a very idealistic first and last teen love but wellwritten. The art is spectacular, I stopped my scrolling to just admire the panels.
The characters act like actual teenagers; they’re horny, bickering, goofing around, and just don’t care about what the future entails for them. The couple doesn’t take things too seriously and they often joke around when they’re being intimate with each other.

Now to the things that I wished this manga explored more. It is heavily implied they both struggle with calling themselves boyfriends and instead say childhood best friends more than saying they’re in a relationship even it is just the two of them! The seme also jokingly threatens the uke that he”ll turn the uke into a girl which was a bit…off. It would have been a great social commentary by the author on the internalised homophobia many queer people face.
It isn’t explicitly mentioned but another thing the manga implied was them potentially falling apart because of college….the seme wants to go to university and the uke wants to stay in town to become a cook, they both acknowledge that it won’t last forever yet the decide to enjoy themselves, it is barely touched upon but nonetheless still implied. I would have really loved another volume following these two into their adulthood figuring out life together.

Final thoughts: This is the mangaka’s debut work so I’ll cut them some slack because this is already really good for someone’s first project. Despite what I said about the implication of a potential breakup, don’t worry nothing happens in the 13 chapters and they’re very much in love with lots of consent and fluff . Do give it a try but don’t read it all at once because you’ll feel like the plot isn’t progressing, instead read it 3-4 chapters at a time otherwise it might be boring.
