Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

I think like many others this show only caught my interest from being at the top spot. I hadnt really heard of it before. And honestly from reading the synopsis it didnt sound all the interesting. It sounded like to many boring isekais with heroes party with RPG classes and defeating some demon king. But hey its Madhouse i almost always like their anime so lets try it out. Ofcourse this is not an Isekai. And the premise if the show is kinda backwards. I mean they already defeated the Demon King. Shows supposed to be over. But that ends being one of its biggestassets as it makes up for a different and more original type of storytelling.

But back to my journey with this im not sure exactly when it happened but somewhere it really hooked me. Its kind of a slow burn. So once again patience is paying of. It felt like something id rate maybe 7/10 maybe 6-7 episodes in but once the credits roll at the end of 28 i was a believer of the 10. It certainly deserves it.

I dont know if ive seen an anime with such a well crafted and written story and characters. Theres not a single character that is annoying or unlikeable which is very rare for me in anime. Theres always some annoying kid or loudmouth. But not here. The dialogue and characters feel more mature than most, or any anime ive seen. The things Frieren learns along the way about herself. Others. And the world. Or her previous journey. Its all just so well crafted.

Its relaxing. No usual shouting or idiots making noise. No childish ”shounen” or anime humor. Its more serious.

I wasnt a big fan of the opening but ending is so good.

Frieren is well deserved of its 10. Might not be my favorite anime but i cant think of a more well written or well made anime. Its simply a masterpiece and while its not my personal #1 it is deserving of its spot and its 10/10.
