Review of Horimiya
I loved the first episodes which is why I'm quite disappointed that I didnt really enjoy the rest as much. There were several things that I tried to overlook but I couldn't really shake them off. Especially regarding Hori - I know there's many Toradora fans who like characters like Taiga but I personally never like to see any form of violence in a relationship (unless it's consensual). Hori isn't as extreme as Taiga but as the anime went on she was getting less likable and acting in unreasonable ways which didn't really serve any purpose in my opinion. Though, it might have just seemedunreasonable since they cut so much from the manga.
Despite it's flaws I still enjoyed it for what it is. A heartwarming slice of life anime that will make you laugh and give you butterflies. I just think the second half of the season could have been more impactful and progressive.
There's two more things I want to mention but I can't do that without getting into specifics but it's nothing too important:
! SPOILER WARNING !
-I really disliked that Hori made that biphobic comment about being okay with him falling in love with another woman but not with another man.
-Them exploring kinks is all good but onlookers can't consent so I really wished these scenes would have taken place in their private spaces... Also, it made me really uncomfortable that Miyamura discussed his girlfriend's kink with her dad
