Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc
If you can look over the writing of the show, you can definitely enjoy the beautiful animation. For me, there are only 4 things I like to talk about the series. 4 things. The Animation is superb as always. The OST is as beautiful as always. Aimer's OP is pretty good (though I still prefer LiSA's version). The writing is as subpar & mediocre as always. Demon Slayer is actually my first introduction to ufotable and what I can say that you haven't heard before. The animation is brilliant and amazing. The bright color pallet, the art style and especially the use of 3D CGI is amazing. They really blended the 3DCGI into 2D background without making it feel out of place and sometimes even better. The animation level increased with each episode and peaked at episode 10 and gave a treat of great animation for a TV series. If Season 1 had "Episode 19", then Season 2 had "Episode 10". Props to ufotable. Props to all the staff behind this work.
Yuki Kajiura OSTs are as amazing as always. Just like how "Hinokami Kagura OST", "Tengen vs Gyutark OST" is epic. So is that entire fight sequence. Both OP & ED are pretty good too.
As great & spectacular as it might might be, Demon Slayer always had a major problem. The writing. While I don't think that the characters aren't badly written, the fact that each character, whether they be a hero or villain actually getting a backstory, shows that there's enough care given to each character making to make them feel human. The one & only biggest downside is that it isn't compelling or immersive. The overly used melodrama tropes and constant victimization just sells the characters as cheap & uninspiring despite the care given. I actually thought about dropping this series in the middle cause the writing went so bad, I thought even great animation couldn't save it (thankfully it did saved it). The execution is also a glaring problem unless it's a full fight sequence. The characters become annoying and hard to sit through very quickly. Tanjiro being kind & thinking everything as fast as possible is actually a good trait to him but the way the Anime portrays this trait makes him dense & annoying. He monologues so much so that you won't even be surprised if he monologues during sex if he ever had. And I kinda like the fact that Zenitsu wasn't awake for long time cause his conscious self is very annoying to sit through and it was quite the surprise to see Nezuko finally getting a power "bust up" & got to see her talk more but sadly it wasn't too long. Tengen's flashy swords and his caring, obnoxious & supportive wives are all the things that's going for him, still better than anyone else. The villains are poorly written with your usual overly sympathetic & melodramatic backstories, just so to remind they are in fact human, despite the countless atrocities they caused, though this time the demon backstory kinda hitted on a few feels.

Great Animation, good characters but very bad writing.
