To be honest, I was a bit of a hater coming into season 3. I was feeling meh about season 1 and 2, and didn't really get why people were so adamant that this series deserved possible GOAT status, but after finishing part 1 and 2 of season 3, I can be as excited as others are for this anime. It may not be the GOAT, but after season 3, finally this series is doing things right. The plot advanced thoroughly in season 3, and finally Eren became likable. Animation 9/10 - Crisp animation as we've come accustomed to for SnK. CGIuse during horse riding scenes were uncalled for and lazy, that's the flaw that doesn't allow me to give it full marks on animation.
Sound 10/10
- Great OST, love the OP and ED. VA and BGM and SE on point.
Story 9/10
- Good emphasis on plot development this season, but I won't deny it took me 2 tries to get into the first few episodes. The second time around, I was more willing to binge it all, and did, with no problem.
Characters 9/10
- Really enjoyed the Historia development, and development of everyone revolving around Historia during this arc. Eren was still a bit of a baby though, but not as bad as before.
Enjoyment 9/10
- Besides a couple episodes at the beginning, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest, and got hyped for the rest of S3.

In summary, Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 part 1 puts the show back on course and sets up the rest of the series for what should be a successful conclusion. I recommend this season for those who were struggling to enjoy season 2. I think season 3 is the best season of the first 3, and is worth catching up to.
