It's been 2 years since I saw the anime, I've since read the manga and rewatched the anime and it's still my favorite anime ever made. Wonderfully thought out, drawn and wrapped up in an addictive storyline, Astra Lost in Space is a masterpiece as it not only plays with emotions brilliantly, but is full of twists and always manages to surprise the viewer. It starts as a future Slice of Life, then quickly turns into a thriller that unfolds part by part. It's pointless to try, you couldn't guess the twists of the anime if you wanted to (at most who the impostor inthe group is if you pay attention), but the anime also has 3 major plot twists in the story. In 12 episodes the anime tells a story by giving us the backstory of each character, but also the backstory of some of their family members and what we rarely see in anime before... the history of the anime. The anime is set in 2063, where space travel has advanced to the point where some schools are organizing class trips to different planets and the question is, "Oh my God, how is this possible? In 2024 we are planning to be able to go to Mars and we haven't even colonised it yet, nor have we started planning to colonise it, but in 2063 we can go to a planet like the fictional Mcpa in the anime? So the anime perfectly explains what has happened to the technology since 2021 that made space travel in 2063 possible for humans and it might not be believable, it might not be possible for it to happen in real life, but Astra Lost in Space perfectly makes the viewer believe that such a historical event could happen. If you really wanted to, you could tie it into any point of the animation, but if you can treat it as animation you can have a brilliant experience and how brilliant is it? If you hate it, you can't stand it, so if you really hate sci-fi animation I dare recommend it because it's so much more than your average sci-fi. It's a necessary genre and it's not just there because of how cool it is these days.

The reason Astra Lost in Space is still my favorite animation after 2 years is because of the ending. The bad guys get what's coming to them, the good guys get to live real lives that match their dreams and it's really finished, all the questions are answered and it doesn't end with the main character dying or "Where's season 2?" a brilliantly thought out journey that is as memorable as our protagonists.

10/10.
