Review of Samurai Champloo

OK, so I haven't done this in a while. This review was requested by a friend (wait people read these? :0) soo here goes nothing >:3 [This is really going to go through all my thoughts on it so, yes spoilers]... Firstly, story. I can't say it was something out of this world, if anything the other aspects stand out way more. Sure, a samurai that smells of sunflowers is cool in all but it's kind of a stretch when it comes to if Mugen or Jin would actually go along with it, to begin with. I don't know, the story was just kind of lacking forme. And then the horrendous ending didn't help much. Let's be real, Mugen got blown up and he somehow regened after a few weeks? Also the whole "but oooooh sunflowers have no smell:000000" just wasn't that good, and the impact they could've had by killing Mugen and Jin was taken away.

I loveddddd looking at the art. Holy shit the animation was so smooth, especially for all the dynamic movements that Mugen would pull every two seconds. The expressions were always exaggerated, but just enough. I adored how they differentiated Mugen and Jin's movements. Even when they weren't fighting, it gave you a wonderful addition to their personalities. The artstyle has something I like but I can't quite put my finger on it, I dunno, guess ill stick to staring at it.

Now now, the music. Never thought I'd ever see hip hop and anime together, much less so perfectly incorporated as Samurai Champloo has. Every new song was a huge hype, and I enjoyed paying attention to the soundtrack. That aside, katana slashing sounds are one of my favourite sounds and there was no lack of those (love seeing people be sliced so easily <333). Mugen's voice actor was amazing, literally can't get enough of him. None of the others particularly stood out though.

ohohoh, this is what I wanted to write about >:3. Characters. Can I get a simp pass because holy why are they all hot? Even Fuu has her appeal man. That aside, I appreciate how they make the characters attractive even when they have flaws. All of the characters had something that would make you go ":0" if you get what I mean. Also a single second more of Jin and Mugen's dynamic is something I'd die for (no, I don't ship them they just look like bros). The character designs were great as well, I loved all the details in the clothes and accessories. The weapons all looked sick too. Hands down best character was the Rapper Samurai, can't even try to deny it.

I definitely could've enjoyed it more, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it plenty. The ending was just really stupid so it kinda spoiled shit. The music and characters bring up the score though.

The way everything was packed up was amazing. Sure the plot itself could do with some tweaks but besides that, I couldn't ask for much more.
