Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
Note that I will try to keep this review spoiler-free. Evangelion has become part of my life at this point, I'm going to assume that everyone knows that this isn't a typical mecha anime. It's part of the plot, but the main story is about the characters and their relations. The plot with the angels and everything is cool, but the characters are the main attraction. You could argue that the story being too vague and many things not being answered are bad, I disagree. I think it makes it even better. This world and these events are just as unknown to you as they are toother characters. That's why on rewatches, not only will the show will not lose its charm and the effect that it had on the first viewing, but it will get arguably better.
My only complaint is that there are a few episodes that stand out, they're not that great and don't add a lot to the story. It also has an almost uninteresting start, if I hadn't watched it a little more, I probably would have dropped it right there.
Watch it, although depressing at times, the entirety of it is very thought-provoking, heartwarming and helpful. The mech battles are also cool, but as I said, they're not the main point.
